Who We Are
The Central Iowa Center for Independent Living is a community based,
non-profit, non-residential program serving persons with disabilities. Our board of
directors is composed of a majority of persons who have disabilities. CICIL is dedicated
to assiting all persons, regardless of disability in making choices about their own lives
and in experiencing success as active participants in society.
CICIL serves people with disabilities and their families in Boone, Dallas,
Jasper, Polk, Madison, Marion, Story, and Warren counties. CICIL serves people of all ages
and disabilities. We also work with public officials, service providers and businesses
that require technical assistance in responding to the needs of persons with disabilities.
Services to individuals and families are provided free of charge or at a reduced rate.
Mission Statement
ADA Accessibility Surveys
CICIL works in conjunction with the Great Plains Disability Business
Technical Assistance Center to provide technical assistance with regards to the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA). Services provided include accessibility surveys, job
analysis, written site accessibility reports, and suggestions on reasonable accommodations
in compliance with the ADA.
ADA consultation is provided to consumers, their families, organizations,
and businesses concerning the legal rights of persons with disabilities under the ADA.
