Central Iowa Center
for Independent Living
How To Help
Volunteer Opportunities
There are many areas within the CICIL organization in which the talents of
persons wishing to volunteer may be put to good use. Tasks requiring volunteer assistance
within the organization are the peer support program, editing and compiling the
newsletter, completing referrals, gathering and dispersing information, committee level
work for the board of directors, board member positions, and participation in various
other duties.
Funding Assistance
The Central Iowa Center for Independent Living was founded under a grant
from the Iowa Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, with assistance from Principal
Foundation, Blue Cross of Iowa, and Meredith Corporation. Further funding was received
from a federal grant under the Rehabilitation Act as amended in 1992. Future growth and
service availability will depend upon private support for the agency and its services.
Donations to the agency are welcome and are tax-deductible to the extent
provided by law. CICIL is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization.
Contributions to the Center are not spent to duplicate existing services
provided within the community, but to assist individuals in becoming as independent as
they wish to be in the community in which they choose to live.
